Progress 8 and Attainment Measures at The Oswaldtwistle School

This information is from the FFT website which uses all the students’ data about them including their Key Stage 2 SATS information to benchmark them against other students nationally to compare our school to other students in order for us to see how our students do.

As you can see from these simple graphs our students Progress 8 measure is in line with the National average for similar students.

We are also starting to see an upward trend in our results. This will continue with the summer 2018 results.

Pupil Referral Units and Alternative Provision are not subject to the Progress 8 Floor Standard from the DFE

PRUs are expected to demonstrate that ‘their pupils are making good progress and their needs are being fully met’ (DFE quote from The Key for School Leaders)

What are the requirements?

Each pupil in alternative provision should have a plan that sets:

‘…clear objectives for improvement and attainment, timeframes, arrangements for assessments and monitoring progress, and a baseline of the current position against which to measure progress. Progress should be “frequently monitored” against objectives, and the provider should have a “rigorous assessment of progress”’.
