BTEC Construction
Name of Subject: BTEC Construction
Qualification:
- Edexcel BTEC level 1 Award in Construction
- Edexcel BTEC level 1 Certificate in Construction
- Edexcel BTEC level 1 Diploma in Construction
The qualification undertaken will depend on how long a student spends at Oswaldtwistle School and also how many hours they spend on the subject each week. The course is made up of short units of work. Over two years a student would expect to complete the following units:
- Starting work in construction
- Developing bricklaying skills
- Developing carpentry skills
- Developing construction painting skills
- Developing plumbing skills
- Developing electrical installation skills
Overview of course:
The course gives students the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised Entry or Level 1 vocationally related qualification. It also gives students the opportunity to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal skills and attributes that are essential for successful performance in working life.
Possible progression route:
The qualification allows students to progress to a Level 2 vocational qualification, such as the BTEC level 2 in Construction. The qualification also allows students to progress to employment in the construction sector.
Short Stay Students
Where students are only on roll for a short period of time it is possible to follow the BTEC curriculum and have their learning recognised by the AQA Unit Award Scheme. For example:
